preventing fading

I brightened up my engine bay by recovering all the wires with blue autozone wire loom, which lasted a month and then faded and now looks completely horrible. does anyone know a way to make this stuff keep its color longer? can I clear coat it? what about that bonds-to-plastic spray paint? i tried to paint it with regular spray paint, but that's just more trouble than it's worth. any ideas would be appreciated, thanks.

Re: preventing fading

It sounds like the problem is "cheap" loom You might want to ask around or maybe some guys here will let you know what they are using that will last for ya. I know I've seen guys out there with this stuff that doesn't fade so I think your best option would be to just get a different brand of the stuff

Re: preventing fading

anyone have any experience with streetglow wire loom? problem is, orange isn't a very common color. I'm still thinking I might clear coat them... I painted the loom in my friend's car with that blue plasticote spraypaint and they still look good. now I just need to find some clearcoat that won't flake off after it dries...
