Possible to re-upholster 4th gen leather>>>?

Hey guys. I am buying a set of black leather seats out of a 97. Got an excellent deal on them. The rear are mint, but both the fronts have a large single "slash" in them. My guess is someone did not like the owner. Anyway, I am getting them cheap because of this, they are otherwise unblemished. my question is how much would it run me to have them fixed, if it is even possible. I really want to just fix them because they are great seats otherwise. They are the current, LS-1 style seats. If anyone has any input, please let me know! I have a pic if any of you are handy in this area and can give me an idea based on what you see! Thank you.

If they have slashes in them then their not mint and i wouldnt buy them. Re apolstering the seats is possible. But usually is not worth the price unless you know someone at the shop that does interiors. I would just get seats of Ebay.

300.00 Dollars for a full set of LS-1 style leather seats is not bad. Even if it were to cost me 200.00 to repair each individual seat, that would still be cheaper than buying an ebay set. I have seen them go for 1000.00 quite often, or more. Plus the 150+ shipping charges....... I don't see how it would be cheaper. At least I will have a mint rear set, those alone cost more than 200.00, All I wanted to know is if its possible and how much. Thanks

Look into some Katskins and see if you can just get the fronts. Or go to your local upholstery shop. They can give you an estimate.

Right on guys. I have some nice leather covers for misc seats, black as well, but I dunno how well the match would be and also the patterning. There is a guy that comes around my work doing upholstry repairs, but I don't think he would do that normally. I will have to ask him the next time I see him. Anyway, thanks all for your input!

Stanghunter,

Have you tried GM Sports Salvage in San Jose?

Yes I have man. I go there about once every two weeks. That place is great, if you talk to Freddy, the other guys jack the price up way too much. But I usually go there for misc stuff, I have never really gone to look for seats. I see them all the time and all. A few weeks back they did have a rather nice set of black seats out of a 96, leather, for 775.00. Not bad, but still a little much, and I hate to be picky, but I am sold on the LS-1 style... But thanks man, Hey! PM me with your AOL SN and I will reply, I take it you are from the Bay Area, I remember seeing your car on camaro bay!

All you have to do is find an auto upholstery shop and they'll probably be able to replace that section on both seat for one or two hundred dollars.
