The argument as to which one is more functional has been debated so many times it's rediculous. When it comes to the 98up style SS hood vs. the UltraZ style setup...I might could agree with you there...But the earlier SS style setup sits almost exactly like the UltraZ does, only with downward tubing into the intake as opposed to horizontal. The UltraZ is more of a straight shot into the airbox, but that doesn't mean it flows any better than the SS setup. No matter where the air is coming from, I have a feeling it's probably utilizing all the air the intake is going to be able to bring in. In any case...when talking about the ram air effect...I'm doubting the two of these would have much of a difference when compared side to side.

LOL...that was long winded. I just have a personal beef when someone says that the SS hood isn't functional. Pay no attention to me.

 

i voted for the SS hood as well. i think that hood is awesome, though alot of people including myself has it. the ultra Z would be my close second choice though.

 

ultra Z .. or i like the 2" VFN cowl even better

but my #1 favorite cowl hood is the really wide cowl that harwood makes ...

I think that the SS hood looks best of all of them. Whenever I see an Ultra Z hood, it just seems to me that someone wanted a ws6 but got a camaro. It just messes up the body lines IMO.
