I have tried clear coat engine paint with mild success. Somehow, on the two hood latch mounting plates (the ones in front of the washer reservoir) there is a bit of surface rust in a couple spots and I clear coated them. This was two years ago so I guess I got decent life out of the shine. Now it's time to go back and hit it again.

I have heard alot of things about aircraft remove before. But i had a jug of the 3m Safest stripper around. And let me tell you it is pretty simple. Brush it on real thick, let it sit for like 40 mins and and then rinse it off. Then just and and polish the cover.
I want to try clear powdercoating, it would be a bulletproff setup if it works properly. Chip resistant and heat resistant. I will keep you all posted on how that turns out.

Wire wheels are pretty harsh on metal. You'll spend more time down the road taking out all the scratches and gouges out of the metal and then have to sand them down before buffing.
