Polished Valve covers - Pics

Project Engine bay has commenced I started by sanding, followed by some more painful sanding, and then some wet sanding, and the polishing. The picture doesnt do it any justice

That looks damn good! I was going to have mine ceramic coated but might just have to reconsider that now that I see yours

How about a step by step of what you did/used... like grit of sandpaper at different stages and then the polishing compounds/tools you used. That would be great!

I will give a quiick rundown here for anyone thats interested, but im working on a site with more details/pictures.

I stripped the original paint off with 3M Safe stripper. I have no clue where i got it, my dad had a brand new 1 gallon jug on a shelf in the garage. But damn did it work good. After that i started out with 100 grit to get all the imperfections out. Then i went to a 220 grit, 400, and a 600 wet. I polished it on my 6" bench grinder, with generic polishing wheel/compounds from the local Canadian Tire store.

Like i said, ill have more pictures and a better description up later guys, thanks for the praise

I did the entire hood latch mounting plates that way about 2 years ago. Takes some time, but looks good.

I'm also in the process of polishing the steel hotchkis strut tower bar right now. So far I've got almost 10 hours into it.

Remove the 4 bolts on each one and take them off. To get the pass side one off you will have to remove the alternator. I've gotten mine off once with out removing the alternator but its a bitch.

If you woulda continued with 800, 1000, 1500, & 2000 grits it woulda been even shinier, and a mirror...Trust me...I have pics to prove
