The Trick FLow and Vortech ones hold alot of heat. They look great but if your looking for performance buy a 1LE elbow. And between the two polished oens.....The Vortech one has some dividing plate in it that restricts flow, IM not sure if the Trick FLow does. And ya I hear people had problems fitting them with certain cold air kits or something like that

No they don't. A good friend of mine I helped out in an 8-hour endurance race last fall and he has one on his Z. I SPECIFICALLY felt his Vortech elbow on a pit stop about 5 hours into it and at most it was barely warm. So THERE

Wow, that looks awesome . Those pictures just convinced me to get one of those. I knew it would look better than my 1LE elbow but its a huge difference. Thanks for the pics!

- Vortech claims that it increases flow.

- The elbow does get warm, just like the engine bay.

Think of it this way, you could also ice it down before the track and it will hold the "chilldown" better then plastic (if you are into those .015 degree temperature differences. )

I'm calling it like I saw it. That elbow was barely warm all day long, in an 8-HOUR, continuous endurance road race. As quoted by YOU, "If you're looking for performance", well, I'm applying my statement towards a PERFORMANCE application where I've seen it with my own two eyes. If you're driving around town and it happens to get hot like you suggest, well then, that's not particularly a "performance" application now is it?

He got the Vortech elbow because the 1LE elbow couldn't stand up to his motor and was collapsing from high intake velocity. So, uh, that kinda throws your theory of buying one of these for "performance" out the window......

That is kinda interesting about the chill down efffect with the ice. Wonder if there is any more gain with the metal elbow over the plastic as far as the chilling effect goes

I have the polished vortech elbow as well as the SLP CAI, im still in the process of cutting some of it off, Im cutting 1" off, then going from there, I've been told I might have to go a little deeper, about another 1/4"

Definatly doesnt fit from the factory with the slp cai.
