Okay, I don't know what it does exactly, but my stock, black, rubber intake elbow has a little black, skinny, tube that is stuck into it, how come the vorteck elbows don't have a spot for this, is it necessary, what does it do?
Also, could someone answer the question above, of whether or not the vorteck elbow is compatible with a K&N?
Thanks

That tube is the vent for your optispark. As far as it working with the vortech, well I'm sure you could come up with something to make it fit

The vortech comes with the fitting, you just have to tap/thread.

i have a slp cai, and it almost wouldnt fit with the factory elbow. i wonder why slp did that. maybe they designed it off the 93 camaros with no maf. that way they could take advantage of the tunnelram effect........i dont know.

back to the subject, i had to grind some of the slp intake off, and get help with compressing the rubber elbow. still a little crimped. i am looking forward to getting the brushed elbow though, even if i have to cut/grind.

anyone else have a hard tome installing the slp cai? took me almos 2 hours

Didnt take me two hours, but I know what ya mean, damn solid parts. It was worth it though, and once the vortech is finished being cut, smoothed, it'll have been worth the effort there too.

i had to remove the radiator support and the rest of the intake parts, maf and elbow along with the cai. it was a pain.

well worth it though, looks great being polished though

Hey one more question. It looks like the trick flow one is ceramic coated. wouldnt this be better for heat reduction compared to the aluminum intake of the vortech one? would this affect the look of it though?

the aluminum will dissipate heat faster, it is one of its properties. that is why heads and some blocks are made of al

The vortech is nice. Good looking and very easy to R&R. I had to cut mine, to fit with the SLP cai.
