I know there is a spray that they make, i'm not sure of the name. I'm sure someone else on the board will remember, it is like a spray on tint. You could just spray you taillights with that and not worry about getting stolen or heat meltning them.

I believe the spray is called "nite shades" paint. Or maybe it's "night shades"

This works well from the pics I've seen, just remember you have to pass state inspections and you can't take the paint off.

Acutually you can remove the stuff. I have it on my turnsiganls/3rd brakelight and rear reflectors and have taken it off before when trying something new. Just some elbow grease and rubbing alcohol worked for me. Oh and alot more elbow grease, but then you don't have to worry with them being stolen.

And the stuff I used everyone is called made by Testors.

Not really, just depends on who inspects it I guess. I just had my car inspected and the first thing the guy told me was that it was going to fail (before they even pulled it into the garage) because I had painted the 3rd brake light and rear marker lights silver (Testors rules!). Anyway, I told the guy the light shines right through and he went ahead and pulled the car in the garage...and passed it. He was impressed with the paint and said he'd never seen anything like that before.

The paint I used is Testors Model Master Series...just pick the color you want. They also make a plastic model window tint that you can also use to spray paint your lights...not as dark as blackouts though. I used it on my fiancee's Eclipse on the reverse lights and front marker lights...here's a couple pics of her car Pics of my car are in the sig.
