Painting taillight Covers

Has anyone painted their rear taillight covers? Just wondering if there was a process in doing it. Would you need to do a light sanding first? I am doing it for car show purposes only.

Well it depends what color they currently are..

If they are tinted black then I doubt you would be able to change them

But if they are clear go to your local arts store and ask them for stained glass paint. They offer several colors. Then just sipe them down with rubbing alcohol and start very light coats on them babies. I would recommend doing the inside of them that way when they are on teh are it will look much nicer. Hope this is the info you wanted.

sounds like a good idea,, this sparked an idea, taking clear headlight covers and painting the inside a clear blue, getting that high class looking glow.

The only problem is that I want to paint my rear tailblazers which are currently smoked color now. I've seen a guy on the net with them done and looked really good but I never got his email.

Yea the paint is pretty cheap...just a couple dollars a can..Its called Krylon Stained Glass Paint..just make sure its the indoor/outdoor kind. I was thinking of buying a extra set of rear-tailights and a set of those atlezas and taking the clear plastic cover of the altezas and painting it a different color and put it back together with the old tail-light housing then getting a set of clear side marker lights and clear turnsignals and clear headlight covers for the front and paint them the same color. Just haven't got around do doing it yet..and plus I dont know what color I'm repainting my car when its done so thats holding me up too. Later

Edit...while were on this topic anyone know where to get a clear 3rd brake light?
