I would like to know what material was used to do the shaving...We have tried SMC, fiberglass, and now bondo, which we'll see how it turns out as we just re-did one door again because it cracked. I have yet to see one that you cannot see it in different heating conditions. Mine get wavy when it gets hot, as the door expands and contracts at different rates than the material used to shave it. I have a hard time believing yours are perfect, especially if you have no experience with it. I might buy it being less easy to see on a white car for example.

Thats why you only shave cars with Metal doors You weld some more metal in the hole, grind it flush, then finish it up with the regular prep work

Its so eassy to do on Grand Am's

I used fiberglass, plain old non expanding fiberglass.

As far as finding it hard to believe, feel free to ask in the MI/Great lakes section, or at Motownmuscle.com, or at michiganspeed.com.

they have seen my car plenty. Maybe when I dig my car out from under the foot of snow, i'll take some closeups, but for now, all I have is the sig pic

I guess I would have to see it in person, and I bet I could find where it is moving....Look at it from a side angle on a hot day down the door and you can probably see some movement. Or the silver hides it really well, which is a possibility. Trust me, I haven't seen one yet. Mine are as close to perfect as I have seen, but I know where to look as far as it being abnormal. If yours are perfect, you're very lucky. I have not been that lucky, but I have also modified my car beyond all human comprehension too.

Not really. In the F-body world YES, but not in the Civic and even Grand am Worlds.

Check out www.aedcentral.com and look in the Members Photos. You'll find beyound human comprehention. One guy is even swaping the steering wheel to the other side

I guess I would say that mine is more of old school hot rod, than rice...per say.

I am sure they have lots of things done with crazy body mods, but I didn't want to go there.

However, I doubt they have taken the time to chrome everything I have. Year before last I took everything off from the unibody-motor, rear, trans etc. Chromed it all. Like the K-member, oil pan, polished heads, chrome fuel lines, polished trans case chrome trans pan, driveshaft (alum) chrome 9 inch, chrome a-arms, (no springs because of bags) ceramic coated borla, chrome rear control arms, panhard, exhaust heat shield, bmr torque arm chrome, all brackets, bolts, hardware, everything is chrome plated..Not to mention shaving, and sealing the engine compartment, then painting, color sanding and buffing the entire engine compartment AND the underbody of the car. That's to go with all of the other stuff done prior. I also installed big Baer brakes at the time, and a blower cam & roller rockers while I was in there. I am from the west coast where quite a few of the "baller" cars are at and I seem to do quite well against them at show. I just didn't want to make my car into a ferrari, delroeon (sp?) or crazy rice mobile. I just wanted a nice old school hot rod with some of those tricks-like suicide doors not ferrari doors. I could have reversed the hood, hinged the trunk sideways, etc. etc. But I don't feel that kind of stuff...

Well, after looking at some of those cars on that site...

My car is quite a bit more modified, maybe you just aren't looking closely enough...

Grand Ams have a world?

Although Cassanova's car is not my taste at all, it is a really nice car. Lot of detail in it. It would be so easy to call it rice, but then again, I dont know if it qualifies.
