painting rear panel and removing side molding...

Removing the side molding today, and I'm thinking about taking off the rear "camaro" panel and painting it semi-gloss black, I was wondering do you think I should find another panel from a junkyard of something so if I don't like it I can put the old one back? And where can I get those stainless letter inserts? Anybody have any pics of their silver LT1 with a black panel? I'd like to see what its gonna look like. Thanks.
