I have a 97 Black Z and I need to decide what to do with the paint/body for the summer.
I have a little bit of painting experience and will be buying a paint gun along with some supplies. The overall paint condition of my car is pretty good imo, I get TONS of compliments on how shiny it is, etc. From up close though, you can see a bunch of imperfections. Basically I want to know if you think I should paint the whole car or just paint the stuff that needs to be painted? Again, i have some minor experience with automotive painting but this would be my first big task. Keep in mind i would do this myself.
Things that definentally need to be repainted:
TTop conversion roof needs to be resanded (bondo smoothened) and repainted
Both 1/4 panels have dents/scratches that I have touched up with duplicolor.
Things I may want to repaint:
Both fenders have cracks near the bottom i would like to fix and repaint.
My front bumper is slightly faded and has rock chips
Rear bumper has some minor flaws.
One of my doors has a few flaws.
I was wondering, should i go ahead and paint the whole car? I would paint it black again possibly with some effects or metallica speckle in the paint. How much do you think paint would run me to do the whole thing if i had a gun, sandpaper, and all the other supplies?
Should I just paint what needs to be painted and possibly do better touchups of all the flaws? Does anyone know how much paint (all the chemicals invoved) would be for the roof, and quarter panels?
I think it might be nice to get a show car appearance for my car but then again, costs will get high fast and it is a ton of extra work.
