Painting interior of car...
Painting interior of car...
Alright well im wanting to paint all the panels in my car black, to change it over from that grayish stock looking color. Ive posted this before, and yall said to get the Krylon Fusion. Now i want it to look somewhat stock, will it look stock after doing this? And some have said to sand and then primer it and some have said that you dont have to. Which way should i do it?
Also, how do i paint the dash? Does it come off or something? Or can i like tape everything up i dont want painted and just spray it down?
Also, instead of using a spray can to spray paint it is there any paint that i can use to brush it on there like normal painting? Im saying this b/c it gets a little messy whenever i try to spray paint **** and id much rather paint it by hand and a brush if i could.
Also, is this too hard to do? I want to paint all the panels black b/c i hate the grayish color and im getting new black leather seats. Any help will be appreciated.

Re: Painting interior of car...
I know its a lot more work but i would change all the panels out in your car if you want them a diff color. I haven't had very good luck with paint parts. They always scratch and show the true color underneathe.
Re: Painting interior of car...
I painted all the panels in my car from the charcoal/gray to black. If you want them to look stock, yeah changing them out might be a better route, although my fusion black doesn't look that far from stock in my opinion. Sanding isn't really necessary, from what I heard some people do it so that it will smooth the piece so it doesn't have the wrinkle effect, others say to do it to get the paint to stick better... with fusion I don't think it's that necessary. If you paint, spraying would be the easiest. You can take most of the panels out, only part I couldn't take out was the panel that rests on the passenger air bag, I taped the heck out of my car and then painted that while it was in the car. I wouldn't recommend doing that to all the panels because of the overspray dust, tho. Make sure you clear coat and do many layers of clear, that way if you scratch you'll only scratch the clearcoat and that can be buffed out.

If you want it to look stock, then go to: www.eastwoodcompany.com and get the correct plastic dye(paint) and prep.
Re: Painting interior of car...
On my interior pieces, I have sanded them smooth, and will be applying a House of Kolor Black, and Kosmic Klear basecoat, clearcoat system on them so they looks smooth and shiny like the exterior of the car, since I am going with a black on black theme, I'll get some pics probably at the end of the week...

Re: Painting interior of car...
Do a search, there have been several people who have posted their "shiny interior" picts.
Personally I don't like it. Don't want light reflecting off of the shiny parts at night while driving. This is why the manufacturer keeps every thing flat.

i have also done my smoothed and painted my whole interior of my car. people freak out when they see it. the only thing that is a little bit of a distraction is the dash pad. i smoothed painted and flamed mine and it looks killer but does reflect on the windsheild. i have gotten used to it but it takes a a while. hope this helps.
