Painted the interior with 3m underbody coating...

I think it turned out great. I let it dry for 4 days. I was able to get the carpet installed today, the console, and the front seats. I think I am going to leave the rear seats and seatbelts removed. I will install the trunk area matting. I was hoping this would help remove some road noise as well. It costed me about $40 dollars.

I would love to do that this summer and put in some new carpeting and dynomat it also. Road noise sucks, and as much as I love my exhaust, I would prefer to hear it outside the car, not inside.

Looks good. When I put a show system in my 94 Camaro we sprayed the inside of the car with Dynamat and it worked wonders for the road noise and the system as well.

Re: Painted the interior with 3m underbody coating...

After removing the interior, which took about 6 hours. I was able to start the cleaning process. This consisted of a vacuum a rag and some 409. I first used the vacuum to get as much dirt out of the car as possible. I then took the rag and wiped down any remaining dust into little piles and then took the vacuum again. This took about 1 hour. I then took the 409 and a new rag and started cleaning. This took about an hour. I then let the car sit for about an hour and I started the most important thing... Drinking some beer.

After a beer later the car was dry and I started spraying the trunk. The trunk alone took 4 cans. I then used 2 cans on the rear seat/sail panel area. I then took 4 more cans and finished the rest of the car. I had a fan a resperator and it still took about 4 days to get dry enough where I could put the carpet back in. So right now I have the carpet, front seats, console and front seatbelts in. I was also able to run new speaker wires to the rear sail panel area on both sides of the car. So all I have to do now is find some decent speakers and mount and wire them up.

I really want to use something like dynamat but its just too expensive for my taste. I cant find any quick fix, or peal and seal where I live. So I am out of luck right now.

I will eventually dynamat the doors when I replace my door panels with some black ones.

Looks awesome, I plan on doing this in the summer. Did it take so long cuz it was cold, or is your garage heated? Also, anyone know if you spray the underside of the car also, would it reduce road noise even more?

Re: Painted the interior with 3m underbody coating...

My garage is heated... I was in a car accident over a month ago and it caused a pinched nerve in my shoulder/neck area. So my right arm doesnt have very much strength.... 30lbs of pressure to be exact and my left has 100lbs. So it was really hard for me to lift the seats and such out of the car because I get fatigue'd really easily because of the pinched nerve.(I am right handed btw).

Looks good! I'd go for some dynamat while I had the carpet out too though. Are you going to put in stock style carpet or are you going to put in a softer, more expensive carpet?

Re: Painted the interior with 3m underbody coating...

I have a softer aftermarket black carpet. Though it ends at the rear of the back seats. Here is a picture of the carpet, console, and seats in place. I plan on leaving the rear seats out until I decide what to do about the door panels and kick panels. Black door panels are atleast 150+ time they get shipped here. If I had a good tutorial on how to paint the doors I might end up doing that. If anyone know's where I can get some peal and seal or quick fix online I would appreciate it. I cant afford dynamat.

I can definitely understand not being able to afford stuff that's why I don't have any mods that didn't come from the factory. All the mods I have are replacement parts and repairs . Are your seats reupholstered or are those seat covers? They don't look too good... :-\ The carpet looks better than stock though.

They are seat covers, real cheap ones at that. They were on the car when I purchased the car, same with the steering wheel thing. I just need to get around to removing the steering wheel thing. The seat cover is actually a lot better looking than the seats without them.

I plan on painting all the plastic kick panels black and the door plastic pieces black and replace the inside door panel pieces to white leather.

I am more interested in go fast parts than appearance. So once I hit my 10second time slip this season or next I will then focus on stuff to make it a nicer looking daily driver. Plus it makes it a total sleeper the way it sits now.

97FormulaWS6: Did it improve the sound characteristics of the car any?

How about the typical f-body shakes and rattles? I would love to hear if it affected the shakes and rattle noise.
