Re: Painted Calipers - Yay or Neigh?

I think they look good at first, but after they get covered in brake dust they look crappy. I wouldn't bother myself, unless I planned on cleaning them regularly.

Unless you have the brakes apart for some other reason; I think it is a waste of time.

If that were the case, I would have them powder coated.

If you aren't going to clean them regularly, then don't even bother. But they do look good, even the stock ones look good painted(as long as you don't do something like lime green).

I think they really compliment the car. Pics of my Black Z with red calipers in the sig.

Painted and decaled calipers are the only way to go!

If you do have drums, don't paint them a bright color. Paint them a flat black, so they are less visible. My drums used to be slightly rusted, and I didn't want that showing through the wheels. So I painted them a flat black, and now they don't stand out as much.

Re: Painted Calipers - Yay or Neigh?

I agree with TheV6Bird. Drums painted flat black is not ricey as all, it's making them less noticable. Red calipers work on almost every color car, too. the Duplicolor caliper paint kit that most auto stores have for about $17 should be all you need, although I purchased clear coat for wheels because they were meant to handle the brake dust. It's only been a month, but so far just hosing the wheels off is all it takes to clean the calipers too.

careful with the painting though, since degreasing is a pain in the ***. It would look nice, but i think that painting drums is rice.

Re: Painted Calipers - Yay or Neigh?

Doing polo green or gloss black would probably look really good. You dont see too many polo green calipers, so it'd be different and still tasteful with the rest of the car.

Re: Painted Calipers - Yay or Neigh?

Good feedback. Thanks alot, but I've had a hard time finding dark green brake caliper paint. Only seems to come in black, red and a few other colours. Where might I get some Polo green, anyone know? I guess I could just use any old dark green paint, but there is special caliper paint out there I'd like to use. Does anyone know if the "special paint for calipers" is really any different?
