I used to think it was extremely ricey. Then I saw it on a black LT1 Trans Am and thought it looked pretty good. I have a black car. Would painting the calipers red look good, or just ricey?

 

I had a white 91 camaro with red stripes and painted my calipers red.

 

Ive never thought painted calipers was ricey, I think they look real nice (Unless the rest of the car is ricey). Painted drums though, thats where the rice is at.

 

I've always thought it was very tastefull. As long as it's a color that compliments the body and doesn't clash.

Psychocabbage I have a black car too so I'm thinking red. Do red too!

 

i think it needs to match the brakes themselves. red calipers are generally associated with performance brakes(ie. porsche). so i think it looks good with some good sized rotors and not so good with the really small rotors.

It's nice if done correctly. Hell unpainted calipers behind some nice wheels is just plain ugly and distracting.

Now, painting your calipers bright yellow on your non-yellow car is just gay. Or some other stupid color. Something like red, or black, or silver or chrome or body matching is fine.

Both my Camaros have had black painted/powdercoated calipers and my vette has red and black. *shrug*

As long as it's subtle and you don't go buying a bunch of ghey red accessories to 'complete the theme' then it's fine, even on a Corolla.

I have red calipers on my NBM car, I think it looks pretty bad *** with the chrome TTII's.

 

PS - it's 'nay', not 'neigh'. Neigh is what horses do.
