Paint pulled off!

I just finished pulling the faded out molding off the sides of my car and it looks great except for one thing. About two inches of paint pulled off in once section of the door. I was going slow and using a heat gun just to warm up the glue. I did one side and had no problems, just a little adhesive residue that came right off with some Goof Off. I moved to the other side and half way down the door, the clear coat and the top layer of paint came off! So now I have a section that is about 1/4 inch wide and about 2 inches long with no clear coat and very dull looking paint. What can I do to fix this with out taking it to a body shop and getting rapped? What will touch up paint look like or can I spray paint it and then clear coat it? Thanks guys!

OUCH ! !

You weren't supposed to PULL it off dude. For future reference, you should have taken some dental floss and put it in between the molding and the car. Then take it off that way, back and forth.

Then you should have taken goo-gone (etc..) and RUBBED the rest of the residue off CAREFULLY.

ok, so I messed up a little. Good thing it is just a little bit. The paint left in the bad spot is still red, just dull and no clear coat. What is the best way to fix it? Thanks

I personally would keep a good coat of wax on it untill i had the time and funds to let the body shop handle it. I know you said you didnt want to get rapped by the shop, so you could contact a GM dealers bumper painting venor ( the guy who comes to the lot and touches up the cars) He should fix that for like 40 or 50 bucks.
