Is this paint or decals?

This pic right here, I want to do something like that with my big block hood, because it's white and so plain. In the pic are those decals or is that a custom paint job, if it's paint could you do the same type of thing with big decals? Thanks.

Those stripes look painted to me, but they very well could be decals?! I know that I want to do the same type of stripes on my car (silver stripes on my black car) and I'm going to have decals made instead of having them painted on (way cheaper, and a lot easier too!). I got a price of $325 from a local 3M outfit to do the stripes up the hood, and down the trunk lid, as well as over the spoiler on the back. I don't think that's too bad.............and I saw a picture of an S10 Extreme that they had put the same style stripes on, and it looked very good.

HTH.

I'm not sure about how long stickers last compared to paint. My brother has a 1997 Z (red with black stripes), and he bought it about 2 years ago. When he got it his stripes (stickers) were in HORRIBLE shape so he ended up taking them off and liked the way it looked so he kept it that way-but if he ever put stripes on again I think he would paint them on because the stickers only lasted a few years(but then again I'm not sure who the previous owner was and how the car was taken care of-but the car looked in great shape except for the stripes). Not really sure, but you might want to check around with people that have stickers before you pay that kind of $$

$325!?!? For stripes like that with no custom curves or anything? DAMN! That must be installed I hope. If you think you can install them yourself (and straight racing stripes wouldn't be difficult) shoot me an email and I can hook you up WAY cheaper than that with custom cut stripes to the width you want.

If anyone is interested I have the decals for sale each one is
6 inches wide and I dont know the exact lenght but you could definetily do the whole car every little piece. The color is black
and will only charge $30 plus shipping . these are the vinyl decals
got them off e-bay but then decided Id rather paint them on.
I know I should post this in the sale sec. but since the topic arose
I figured I could get rid of them.

FYI: it is important to know the grade of vinyl that is being used. They are NOT created equal. Also measure everything in advance.

I used 2 Mil vinyl. It is a challenge to apply over any type of curved surface such as the rear of the car or the ZL1 style hood.

$400 Installed is cheap.

Agreed about the vinyl... for stripes the 2 mil ultra high grade vinyl is a must! However, if you or anybody else think $400 installed is a good deal then look me up. I'll make and install these ALL DAY LONG for $400 or even $350 if that's what you guys want to pay me Seriously though, that seems like a lot of money considering it took me about 3 hours to install my SS stripes and these dual racing stripes would be MUCH easier/quicker to do.

Brent...

but your ss stripes stayed on primarily flat surfaces correct ? They naturally kind of curve around and avoid the intake, because they are SHAPED to be easy to apply.

What I am getting at, is when you do these viper stripes along the entire body of the car, down the back, under the spoiler etc... and up to and aroung the curves of the intake on the hood, things get alot more tricky. It's a whole new ballgame, because you are so concerned about keeping the gap EXACTLY right... much different than the heritage or SS stripes.

It would take me about a couple hours to do actual viper stripes on a stock Z28. It would take me about a day if there is a ZL1 hood involved. It is much easier said then done.

I was talking specifically about putting them on a car like the above with a cowl hood. I personally wouldn't even attempt to put stripes on a SS style hood unless they were cut specifically for the hood... that would be damn near impossible! Definitely something I wouldn't want to tackle But, to stick racing stripes like that on a cowl hood like pictures I don't see as being too difficult. And, a stock 93-97 hood wouldn't be too difficult either IF you stayed between the fake vents. The rear spoiler isn't that difficult either not even on an SS. I've put straight stripes on an SS spoiler and the small lip doesn't come into play.

But, yeah, I wouldn't even attempt straight racing stripes on an SS or ZL1 hood unless I had the correct pattern to cut them so they laid properly. Too much trouble
