Post Paging pu12en12g - Appearance Mod

I e-mailed you once before about this, but I'm not sure if you got it...

On your short shifter mod, how did you shorten the white "stick" that the buttom pushes down. Also, exactly how much did you cut off of the shifter, and was do you wish you had cut more off. I have had my console piece around the shifter off for a week and a half trying to figure it out. I was thinking just cut the bottom of the black shifter bar off from the bracket, take the length out of it on the bottom end, and weld it back on, but I just wanted to know how you shortened the white piece. Thanks.

I cut off 1.5 inches. IT'S IMPORTANT TO PUT THE PARKING BRAKE ON and then put your A4 shifter IN THE MIDDLE POSITION (sticking straight up) in order to do this.

You have to cut EXACTLY the same amount off of the outer hollow shaft and the White middle piece. After cutting the hollow shaft, its easy to then cut the same amount off of the white piece.

You also need a dremel or something to get the grooves correct. It definately takes some patience. I have a guide on it somewhere, but hopefully u might already have the info u needed good luck.

pu12-Thank you very much for you response. That helps me out some...a guide would be nice, but if you can't find it right off hand no big deal...last thing I need is to know where you took out the 1.5 inches out of the white shaft. Did you cut it out of the middle then fix it back together, or out of the bottom? Reason I ask is because I noticed that the top is smaller, for the button to fit on, so I doubt you can cut there, and the bottom looks bigger and hollow so that it fits down over the piece that the button releases. This should fix me up. Like I side, if you can find the guide, GREAT, but if not, just knowing this should be fine.

Thanks a lot once again.

Whatsup man,

I understand that you wanna make sure what u are doing before u shorten that thing. That is really good... I was at a loss on how to do it until I put the actual shifter in that middle position, with the **** OFF.

I actually cut 1.5" off the top of the hollow shaft (being careful not to cut the plastic yet). Then I Cut 1.5" off of the top of the plastic white piece in the middle. That is the easy part, the hard part is the vertical grooves for the ****, and the horizontal grooves for the little **** pin...

As I recall, you can ONLY cut 1.5" off of top of the plastic piece IF it is in that middle position ( REVERSE I ::THINK:: )

EDIT: Actually i think I had it in Nuetral when I was doing this mod.

Here is what it looks like 1.5" shorter:

Thanks a million...I appreciate your willingness to tell me how you did it.

P.S. I am about to post a new message in the appearance section about those Indiglo Gauges from Speedhut, take a look @ it.
