you don't need VIN anymore, swing by your local GM parts department and check it out!

i thought i heard the OEM ones are only like 750 compared to the 2k price tag they use to have. I would go to a dealer and get one. I have seen advertisements in mags about getting OEM SS hoods.

yeah, but like somebody else said "what do you expect for genuine GM/SLP"

the dealer cranks the price up on about every part they sell, he!! i got a set of wiper blades from the dealer and they cost me like $35......

i think they quoted me a price on the 96-97 SS hood with the airbox for something like $800 or $900 and that was even at wholesale, not list price!

so basically my only options are to either buy it from a dealer, try and find it from a junk yard, or buy an aftermarket? are there any junk yards that specialize in f bodies?

Call up Mark at http://www.hpsalvage.com, he's a really nice guy and has helped me out alot. I don't know if they have one right now, his stock changes all the time, so you might get lucky and you might not. Here's his e-mail address mark@hpsalvage.com.

I forgot to post this link too, http://www.tacreationsusa.com/hoods.htm. I haven't dealt with them so I don't know how good they are, but I'm sure someone on the board has. Good luck.

My dealer wanted like 1400 bucks for it. I laughed in his face! Looked on ebay that same day...found one in tampa for close to 500 bucks plus shipping. I think I ended up getting it for a little over 600 bucks in the end. When I got it all on and looking good...drove it back up to the parts counter at the dealer for some other various parts...the guy asked if I found a better deal. Um...yeah...60% off!
