its still functional, you just save the money by not getting the air box. Thats what i did with my hood, but i plan to the get box eventually(used most likely)

It doesn't look like the SLP version. Anyone know where to get the one that looks just like the SLP version?

No, the suncoast has a weird looking vent scoop, it's rectangle looking and I think it's a different size also. I like the SLP better, but it's too much money!!!! I saw a hood from Ram-Air designs that looks like the SLP, but it they claim that it needs to be fitted and block sanded etc. I just want to paint it and bolt it on, no fitting or block sanding!!!

Well almost EVERY aftermarket hood is gonna have to be sanded and fitted for it to fit nice and even.......very rarely do fibergalss hoods fit perfectly w/o sanding or fitting........I got my slp ss hood on ebay for 660.00 and i thougt the extra 150-250 i paid is worth it for the fitment and looks i got......i got pics in the sig.

Just something to think about. Many MANY people have proven that a good CAI way out flows the stock SS intake, on an LT1. I mean just think about it in obvious design those harsh almost 90* bends as opposed to a smooth curvy CAI bellow. I assume from your name though that you are inquiring about LS1 hoods. And again, the Camaro Cold Air Ducting is very poor, they kept the curves and stuff, though they did it all inside the hood. Think about that Free Ram Air Mod for LS1s. All in all, I am just saying its not really a bad idea to just get the hood.
