First, a product update.

I have been going back and forth with my manufacturing company on getting them as black as possible as mentioned in previous posts. It took a LOT of prototyping making sure we get the ink levels right along with a good strong adhesive. This included them sending me several samples for me to test out and then reporting back to them. MANY different samples had to be sent out.

It was crazy. They would look black in the shade, pretty black in the sunlight, but put them on a black car in the sunlight, they looked gray by comparison to the black paint. It had to do with the sunlight refracting through the urethane top into the base color behind it and the fact that auto paint has a VERY high concentration of ink.

Finally, we got them about as black as possible and have an excellent adhesive on them for maximum staying power.

So where does that leave us?

All those who indicated through e-mail they they will be painting theirs to match their car color should have received their "non-black" ones by now.

All those who wanted the blackest ones should receive them next week as I was guaranteed that they would be in my hands on Tuesday.

Who ever thought that something so simple could be so complex?

As far as ones to cover the trunk locks, I will have to work on that in a little while. The big problem is that there is less surface for the SmoothLock to adhere to. I will see what I can get worked out later on.

So...

I will be offering the dark grey ones for those who want to paint theirs, as well as the black ones for those who don't want to paint them.

To all those who expressed interest in ordering a set, get them cheap while you can because I am working a deal for them to be distributed through SpeedSpecialty.Com in the near future, and the price may go up a bit.

Okay, the shipment came in, and after weeks of going back and forth, I think we have them about as black as they can get. Even my manufacturiung company learned a thing or two from this experience.

So now there are TWO versions!

One, is the previous "dark" version that now comes primed and ready to be painted, and the full black version.

So, there is no need to wait to order! (unless you are going to Bowling Green this weekend, they will be avilable there)

Those of you who ordered and specified fully black version, they will be in tomorrow's mail on the way to you finally! Thank you very much for your patience and understanding. This turned out to be more complicated than I had ever imagined.

Primed version orders will ship early next week because I will be gone to the Bowling Green event and will not be able to prime them until then. Black version orders received after 5 pm EST tomorrow will have to be shipped next week as well for the same reason.

Yep, they definitely went out. You ordered them just before I had to go out of town for a few days and then I had to prime them (since you ordered the primed version) when I got back. They did indeed go out, and anyone else who hasn't gotten theirs should very soon.
