well for 80 bucks, you almost cant pass up a 10 pound hood. as for the rain, the ws6 ram air hood is rated for no water intake at 130 mph...anyone doing 130 in the rain is just asking for trouble.

id buy one if they made it for the lt1.
If they made that for the LT1 you would have to move your airbox to the front of the car otherwise the hood would do no good

so...that means colder air instead of hot air off the manifold of the engine...and the pontiac's ram air is much more efficient than the chevy's. think about it, do i really want a straight through forced induction, or do i want 3 45* angles and a reducer, then into a crappy 90*angle with a silencer on it. hmmmmmmm...let me think for a minute. i think id rather have the ws6 setup.

Thats true, but I never said that it wasn't...I was just mentioning that you would have to relocate the intake, I wasn't saying that was a bad thing...my SS intake setup doesn't have a reducer in it though so I would think it is a fairly effiecient setup...even though the firebird ram air would be slightly "better" with very minimal extra performance

All that would be needed would be to use the LS1 airbox on an LT1 car. I did that with mine so I could use the newer SS hood...changing the airbox location took me less than 30 minutes.

If by newer SS hood, you mean the actual LS1 hood then I think you made a mistake...although the intake is in a better spot I think that the design of the hood is much poorer because it is not a straight shot into the air filter like the 93-97 ones...it has to follow those stupid ducts until it gets to the front of the car and then finally goes into the filter.....doesn't really seem like a good design to me....

Ceebee...why don't you look at the pics of my car in my sig and THEN tell me if I made a mistake. We weren't talking about my hood choice, or the way that it flows. We WERE, however, talking about how to make the hood that this post is about flow with the Lt1 setup if they hypothetically made it for that application.
I didn't buy my SS hood because of it's 'ram air' properties...I bought it because it looked good and thought it would add to the over all look of my car ( considering I swapped over the entire front end of my car to the LS1 style front end after my car got vandalized!). I don't really think that an LT1 style hood would look right on an LS1 car...do you?! It was an added bonus that I could make it functional with an airbox swap, but that wasn't my primary reason. So enough about people making 'mistakes' by getting SS style hoods instead of some other "more effecient" hoods. Some of us just simply like the way they look.

now, stifle.

I don't think you all are even looking at the picture, yes i see the air box, but what good does it do if there is no opening in the hood? That's i said it just looks like a decal. I think you all need to look at it again instead of just asuming what it is.

you gotta think though...why would someone put an LS1 hood on an LT1 car without changing the front end. It would NEVER fit or line up...ever. At any rate...no biggie...The front end swap itself didn't cost me a penny since my insurance paid for the vandalism claim...instead of buying LT1 parts...I just bought LS1 parts. The difference in price was nominal. The hood I got a deal on...it is an original GM hood that costs about 1700 bucks...I got it off ebay for 800 I think...a replacement plain old LT1 hood was 600 bucks...so that was the only real out of pocket expense when it came to parts. Now the paint is a different story. I had a paint job done that is insane. It's sikkens paint, and it was double the base and triple clear coat. It was wet sanded 3 times, at the end finally done with 3000 grit paper. You could shave sitting next to it. That was a pretty pricey job...if my painter hadn't owed me a favor...it would have been between 4 and 5 g's. As it was, I paid about half of that.

Whobetter...you need to just forget the whole thing. EVERYONE has been trying to tell you that it's not a decal...but you refuse over and over again to see it. THERE IS DUCTING. I know it's hard to admit it...I do...but it's there. Just because you don't believe it doesn't make it true. I'm sorry you can't seem to scroll down the page and look at the picture with the ducting clearly visible on the underside of the hood...but the rest of us have. It's there man. If you can look at that picture...and STILL say that it's a decal...

I'm waisting my time aren't I...

It might look better if it were painted to match the car, the idea behind it is good though.

Am i the only one who think that hood looks like total crap. First of all look at the edges of the hood flat, and no structural support.
YES i know youre saying thats what the bracing X in the middle is, but common two metal rods and some welding, PLEASE. Oh AND THE SCOOP is it just me or does it look like he cut off one of the rectangular exhaust tips, traced around it, made a hole in the hood and then stuck it underneath the hood. I am in no way an expert but thats sick.

Obviously this hood isn't of the quality that you would want to put it on your ride as a daily driver. We're talking weight reduction and hi flow ram air....I think this is mostly for the Autocrossers out there. Of course, if this was meant to be a complete replacement on a daily driver...that would suck...it's not top quality...I mean..come on...it weights in @ 10 lbs.!!! Now THAT is a weight reduction!!! Just see if for what it is....a racing hood.
