Need tire suggestions for new rims

I'm ordering new rims for my 95 Z (Smoothie II) and I want to know what size rubber to put on 'em. The rim size will be 17x8 up front and 17x10 in the rear. Also, I'm considering lowering the car 1 to 1.5 inches. Any suggestions to avoid rubbing or having to roll the fender lip? Help me out here guys (and gals). Thanx

245-45-17 up front dia of 25.7"
275-40-17 out back dia of 25.7"

summit has gForce kdw for $200 each but you should be able to find cheaper tires that are just as good www.tirerack.com

why not 17x10's all around...it 9.5's work up front than 10's should.

that way you can get full use of the 275's

I was concerned about rubbing issues up front with the 10's It's so damn hard to say for sure that 10's will or will not rub. It's almost as if it varies from car to car
Also, with the offset of the Smoothie's I didn't want the wheels to stick out to far.

the 275's are a lower profile I assume?

thanx teke

You can fit a 315 on a 17x10, they will be a little taller then the front but you should run them at a lower tire pressure anyway.
BTW the Nitto 315 is narrow enough to be called a 295 or 305.
You could fit a 275 on the front but they might roll a little on hard turns.
(If you can't tell already I like the tire to be outside the rim a little from a straight view.)

What do you have on the back of your Formula KC? Those tires are huge (315's I assume?). What size are your rims all around?

So I could go with 17x10 all around, put the 275's up front and 315's in the back?

I have 17x9.5s in the front and 17x11s in the back. The front tires are goodyear F1s (stock SS tires) and the backs are 315 Nitto 555Rs. I wish I had a pick of the rear wheels looking directly down because the tire does not extend past the rim at all. I almost went with the BFG dr's because they are a little wider ( in the same size) but they wear out so fast that I decided to go with the Nittos.

If I were you I would not hessitate to put Nitto 315s on a 17x10" rim. The front is up to you, you probobly could run a 275 and be fine but then again its just something you would have to try. You could also run a 245 on the front but the wheel will stick out a little more. Its just a choice that you will have to make.

If I were you I would go with 17x9 or 17x9.5 up front and then 17x10 or 17x11 out back. But thats just me

Damn. Those 315's in the rear look awesome. Do you have any rubbing issues with the fender lip or inside the wheel well?

As for the size, I do want smaller up front, larger in the rear. The only size I could go with for the BC Smoothie II's is 17x8 and 17x10. Now I'm leaning toward 17x8 with 275 and 17x10 with 315's. Whaddaya think?

Oh ya, go any more pics of your car and in particular, your wheel/tire setup. Thanx

i have 18x10 all around and i have 295's in the rear which i would go no wider. it would be safe to go 17x10 all around. i have 275 up front but i have seen 18x10 TT2's with 295's all around.
i have no rubbing issues up front even in full turn.

I don't rub the inside of the wheel wells at all. But I did have to re-align my rear end after I lowered it. (adj. panhard rod) My tires do rub on the top of the fenders sometimes when I am on the hiway and I hit a big bump. Its partly because my car is so low and partly because my back spring rates are so light.

This is about the only other pic I have.

BTw I am very confident that you can run a Nitto 315 on a 17x10 in the back. However if you go with a 17x8 in front I would choose to run a 245 on it. Then you wont have to worry about tire roll on hard turns.

I hope beside the picture, everyone also paid attention to the warnings about putting tires on wheels that are too narrow. I've never seen a 315 tire that was approved or recommended for anything less than a 10.5" wheel.
