need some advice on painting stuff under the hood....

i'd really like to paint some of my stuff under the hood while i've got everything torn down, but don't have time for powder coating or anything along those lines before it all goes back together. the engine is out and torn completely down. can it be done with some kind of regular paint and still look good and hold up well under the heat, not peel off, etc.? i don't want to do anything if it's going to end up looking crappy. i'd appreciate any advice ya'll may have.

thanks!

I painted the runners on my intake and I just used chevrolet orange engine paint, or high heat paint, I forget what its called but it still looks great after 4 years.
