Need a Pro's advice on Lowering.

I lowered my car 2 years ago using Intrax springs which give a 1.5 front /1.7" rear drop and Tokico Shocks all around. I didn't do anything else except a Strut tower brace. The ride was rougher as you would expect but I love the car's looks and handling and the strut tower brace made a great difference. I chose that kit because it was an imedmidate amount of drop that no one else offered.

My question is for the long term durabilty/ reliability of the car. Should I do anything else to the suspension?, I know next to nothing about these things, technically will I have any problems that would cause the car to break down due to this lowering job?

It's a V6 car, I dont care about traction, the tire wear is not a big deal, the car has always driven in a straigh line so I never had it aligned. I just want to make sure the car isn't going to break down.

Here's pics of one of the best looking camaros you'll ever see..

thanks

I would spend the $50 or so to get it aligned. It'll pay for itself by not wearing out tires. I just lowered mine with a Eibach Pro Kit, and wont be driving it much until I get it aligned. You shouldn't have any problems with it being lowered. A lot of people do it without problems. just have to pay more attention to the road and on/off situations. well worth it IMO. Looks like yours is slightly lower in the back. did you take out the spring isolators? it does look nice sittin on the ground like that tho.

Any before and after pics? I'm between getting stock springs on my car again or getting a ~ -1.25" (pro kit height) drop.

no, i didn't take the spring isolators off in the rear, I kind of wish that the rear was a little higher in the rear but I'm happy with it, I think it settled a little, maybe I should have gone with a regular eiback kit but I figured only doing an inch wouldn't make much diffference. but it proabably would ride a little better.

I actually had the job done at a speed shop for $220. I knew it was going to be a bitch to do, infact they had to break the shock bolts to get them off because they were rusted.

I would recomend the tonkico shocks, I read bad things about the Blistens, the tonkicos said they were made for lowering cars.

Thanks for the compliments, I think alignments are like $80 now, plus it may be a challange to find a shop to do a lowered car.

that is a good price to have it done. It took me a while to do the fronts. the rear is always simple. I reused my stock shocks because my car has low miles and im cheap. I was looking at the tokico shocks. seem to be a good priced/performing shock.

This was my car before the lowering, it made a hell of a difference, but I really wish I would have kept the factory green color and had the SS stuff to match the green. The green looks great in this photo.

I would get subframe connectors next. As our cars age they develop lots of squeaks and other noises, especially the t-top and convertible cars. Having higher rate springs will exacerbate the problem. Getting subframe connectors will increase the bodies rigidity and help eliminate a lot of noises. Not to mention your handling will be much improved.

I had a little trouble finding a shop to do mine, but the 2nd or third shop I tried did it for me. First shop pulled it into the garage and a few mins later a guy came out and was like "yeah... we can't get your car on our jack."

Granted I'm lowered ~2" in the front right now.

As stated early, sub frame connectors would be a nice mod. Maybe look at swaybars after that.

thanks for reminding me of the SFC's, I really dont have problems yet but I see that the prices have finally come down on these.

looks like you'll need a lift to install these, I guess it would best to get the bolt-ons and have a shop do it,

Do you have to drill holes or do these mount in existing holes?

i'm looking at these

yeah, it was stupid to paint over it , but if I remember right it was like black, a pain to keep clean, that's why I went with yellow.
