Need New Mirror After Mine Is Damaged. Need Advice Now

Hello everyone.

First off, I own an 98 Chevrolet Camaro. This car’s been so great to me and overall I can’t complain about it, considering that it has generally been problem free for the most part. But enough about my car. The reason I’ve come here is that I’ve got a small problem and I need some advice on what to do. Just yesterday, my wife (she is 72 years old, a great woman) was driving through a residential area (she says she was driving at around 20 MPH) when a driver parallel parked on the side of the street suddenly opened their driver side door. Their door collided with the passenger side mirror of my car and completely damaged it.

To be honest I haven’t done any online shopping thus far but have heard that one can find great deals ordering products from the internet. I’ve also heard that there exist many website that appear to be legitimate but are actually fraudulent scams. I’d like to purchase a replacement mirror online, but I can’t discern between legitimate and fake websites. I found two sites but now need to know, has anyone purchased from either of the following websites and can testify that they are a legitimate business? The OEM numbers of the parts on the sites match the part I need. Thank you.

I wouldn't bother with buying from a website unless you wanted to buy a 100% brand new one from rockauto.com or gmpartsdirect.com. Buy from an individual or company on ebay with a good reputation. You might even get lucky and find someone selling one in the same paint color as your mirror. Here's a link:

Make sure that the mirror is the correct type for your car. There was a power mirror version and a non-power version. There was never a heated version of a 4th generation Camaro mirror, so don't worry about that.

There might be a difference in the electronics depending on year. If there is, it will be '93-'96 and '97-'02.

Just for an example...

If you are going to buy one that is prepainted, just because the wiring could possibly be different, avoid ones that are clearly from a car older than yours. This mirror is clearly Medium Quasar Blue Metallic, a '94-'97 paint color, so you don't want it. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/93-02...Q5fAccessories

I will second buying from Rockauto.com..bought a lot from them, great prices, quick shipping.

If you need a mirror fast, buying and having to paint will have to work. If you can wait a bit I'm pretty sure you would be able to find one that is painted the same color.
