02 SS Spoiler upgrade to z28 help
02 SS Spoiler upgrade to z28 help
I posted in this in an ongoing thread but figured i'd make my own as well. I bought a SS spoiler to upgrade my z28 one however I have these goofy bumps still there from the original spoiler that seem to be bolted on. Do I need to get body work done for this? I figured it would just be a clean swap and these might be adhesive and come off...
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Re: 02 SS Spoiler upgrade to z28 help
They should be adhesive holding them on- IIRC- thats how they came from the factory, and if its aftermarket they are certainly going to be adhesive.
Use some fishing line after letting the car sit in the sun for awhile to loosen the adhesive. Go slow and work it loose.
You can get to the backside of the fender really easy there to double check to make sure they aren't some kind of bolted on pieces, but I haven't seen any.

I just looked and it seems as though the portion that is still on is bolted on and if I remove those bolts there will be 3 huge holes in the body of the car... This isn't good. =(
Re: 02 SS Spoiler upgrade to z28 help
definitely RS tail pieces..take em off..should be bolted but can be adhered on in addition to the bolts...take it to the body shop and get it filled and painted if you don't mind the cost.had my brothers Z done the same way for 200 bucks..but it was Sebring Silver like mine...hard to get right..shop had to hit it 3 different times to get the color to match.

yea brother they are defiantly from a RS spoiler, my buddy had similar problem. On the bright side you can sale that rs spoiler for about $100 or more.
Also anyone know where I can find A SS spoiler for a good deal?

Re: 02 SS Spoiler upgrade to z28 help
Guys,
I found out it will cost me way too much to do a replacement of the RS pieces with painting and filling so I am going to have to sell this spoiler.
If anyone is interested or knows someone let me know!
