Need help with tire choices.

DTD=DiscountTireDirect.com

Yea im in the market for some rims + tires for my 1995 Z28, i like DTD, but i am not sure about tire choices. I do however am sure about buying those smoothie II's. I want the 18x9.5's at all 4 corners. For tires i looked on the site, i put in my car's year, but the tire sizes only went up to 275, which dont appeal to me.. i want to get as much rubber under my car without doing any mods, and worrying about damaging them if i bottom out. I have heard somewhere that 285's not only look good, but they also fit good. So i decided not to use the DTD's car specific search thing, and i just browsed at the tires they had by specifyign my own size.

Im thinking of getting 285/35/18 Nitto 555 extremes for the back (only $50 more why not?), and 275/35/18 Kuhmo ecsta's for the front... maybe i can go lower in tread width.

Anyways, please tell me what u think of my choice, and will 285's fit without any problems, how thin can i go on the tread width for the front, do u think its a good idea to go thin in the front and using less quality tires then the back, whats the maximum tread width i can do in the back with 18's without any mods or banging on the wheel well. How long do Nitto 555's last compared to the others like Kuhmo ecstas. This car is going to be used as a daily driver.. i drive about 60 miles each day. Is it even worth spending the extra money on Nitto 555's instead of gettting another set of kuhmos for the back?

Thanks alot.
