My T-top Conversion Write-up
My T-top Conversion Write-up

I still have to do the fibreglass channel corners in spring. I'll attach more pics and explain the process further then.
Any questions or anything you would like me to clarify or add?

Looks pretty good to me. I've been thinking about doing the same to my car-that's the one thing I wish my car had (I think if I had t-tops, they would never be on my car
). Good work, looks great, and thanks for the write up-it will definitely be useful. Approximately how much did it cost you?

Good job. The conversion looks pretty simple. Good write-up, can't wait to see the rest of it.
You should take some more pics of the car with the t-tops installed. I'd like to see how everything lines up.

Well I'm going to do the minor cosmetic stuff slowly over winter as time allows.
I'm going to use photoshop and edit some of the pics right away and add arrows etc. So reshresh the page in about an hour.
The T-tops lined up perfectly the first time.
You can adjust them by moving the brackets back and forth and playing with the washers.
I have to adjust the weather stripping a bit on the driver's side. Grind down the fabricated channel a bit more toi make a better fit.
94-3.4: Dude!! Come up here and I'll help u do it in a week.
Cost me $40cdn for tools and supplies on top of the cost of the T-tops etc.

Looks like a good write up to me, the instructions seem detailed and the pictures are clear.

Very nice. Brings back memory's of my install last summer. There are a couple of things I would add.
Purchase a spot weld bit from the local paint supply store, It is a very small hole saw that is made just for breaking loose spot welds. Works much better than a drill bit IMO.
When cutting the seam across the roof stay on the front side of the seam and leave that small lip. It is a small detail that I think really looks good.
If at all possible, try to avoid riveting the fabricated sheet metal. I know that sometimes you have no choice but welding makes for a bullet proof fab job. I welded mine instead of riveting because from experience they will eventually show thru the body filler and allow the body filler to crack. I know most people dont have access to a welder but that would be the preffered way to do it
Your pictures are very detailed and the work looks great. Very nice job. If anyone is intimidated by this mod, dont be. It is not difficult. Take your time, measure twice and cut once.

Nice work on the pictures. When I first test fitted my ttops, I was surprised at how nicely they lined up. Very easy to make them fit perfect for any of you debating to do this. For the perfect look, I purchased a trim piece from the local car place and installed it on the back groove so it didnt look like a homemade cut job.
I'm going to use one of those plastic door guards that people slide over their door edges to hide the "home-made" look on the cut roof skin.
Thanx for the kind words guys.

I dont have pics of the trim installed yet but I have pics of everything else completed. I'll try to post them to give you a couple ideas maybe.
Hey, quick question...what did you use to plug up the holes near the windshield in the metal? I tried a hardware store, home depot, and a ricer store and none had a rubber plug big enough for that hole. Any advice on where to find one? Also, that door trim stuff works just awesome. It fits perfectly, looks factory, and it smells good too. Damn rubber plugs...
I'm going to do the fibreglass corners this weekend or next weekend.
We'll probably fibreglass over them.
Also you can use the metal strip that I pulled off in the first step to cover the roof skin cut edge.
