My red car is turning white

I have a 1987 Camaro. I realize it is kind of old and the paint isnt gonna be perfect unless i get it painted. But I have this annoying as all hell white oxidation like stuff on the hood and roof of my car. I have tried so many different compounds and polishes and waxes and the car looks really good for like 3 days to a week, then it starts to turn white again. When its on a red car it looks really horrible because other then those problems the cra like perfect. Any ideas on what to do?

Thanks
Frank

I've seen that before and I don't know that I ever got it to completely go away on my wife's old '81 RS, but this is definitely a topic for the Show 'n Shine guys. If anyone can answer it, they can. I'm sure if you post this in there or get the mods to move it, you should get some good responses.

Goto Pepboys and get some 3m rubbing compound and set aside about 5hrs on saturday and get that elbow grease going.

If your paint isnt too trashed the rubbing compound will make the paint look like new and take out all the fine scratches, water mark, and stains.

After the rubbing compound you should get some "cleaner polish" then some regular polish and finally some good Carnuba wax.

Yep that should do it but I would use "hand glaze" instead of "cleaner polish"
