I bought my 96 Z from a guy in June. The paint job is awesome, it is a blueish green that changes colors in the sun, so when you look at it one way it's blue then another way its green, sometimes even almost a light purple. This can't be a stock paint job.

 

Actually I think it may. I was looking at a Camaro one time and it looked exactly how you explained. I've also seen other Camaros with that paint scheme

 

That sounds like the Teal colored camaro's. A friend has one that looks just like you described. But then we'd have to see pics to know for sure

 

My roommates father has a '95 Firebird (V8) with "Chameleon blue". His dad bought it brand new in California.

Take a look at your RPO codes and see if you can find the number 79. That is the paint code for Mystic Teal, a color that only found its way onto 637 Camaros in 1996.

sorry to ask a question in someone else's thread...

but does anyone know the paint code for this color?? I think the name of the color is mystic teal. I desperately need touchup paint, but I when I go my local parts dealership, and give them my VIN it comes up that my car is black...which its not...and I don't think it ever was (if it was then the previous owner paid a lot for the teal color b/c they got everything painted, i.e. under the hood and trim). Anyways the paint code also isn't located on my door, anyone?

 

XH20skier just said right above your question that it was paint code 79. Thanks for all great info guys. I love the color of my car, and it's cool that only 600 some got this paint.

 

Mystic Teal wasn't available in '94, so it could have been the following if it was a stock color:

Dark Green-Gray Metallic 18
Bright Teal Metallic 37
