Re: Mudflaps or not??

I don't have them on my Z but they can help. It just depends on whether or not you can deal with how it looks. I don't think that it looks very bad if they are done right, but it is not something I would do on my Z. The flaps do work though. Our departments patrol cars are black and I had always put them on my new patrol cars and they made a big difference, especially if you travel on gravel roads a lot. They will definitely save the paint.

If you get enough built up, it will definitely protect your paint.

Re: Mudflaps or not??

I've debated this too. For me it's the dirt issue.
I can't get anywhere without my car getting instantly dirty.
I'd just like to have it look clean for longer.
As it is I wash it 3+ times a week.

I haven't done it though. Probably won't.
But I'd sure like to see a few that have them on, and still have this thread remain non-judgemental.

Re: Mudflaps or not??

Some of our Camaro units had them on their cars and they didn't look too bad. They used them because they were in and out of the median all of the time and there is a lot of gravel and it is muddy most of the time. They do a pretty good job of keeping mud and road grime off of the front fenders and rear quarters.

I have them on my car and I like them, although I can't vouch for how much protection they offer because I've always had them.

Re: Mudflaps or not??

i wouldnt think they would do much...the way the rear bumper is it seems it would still get hit with ****...i dont know about you all but the paint on my bumper right behind the wheels was real worn, but id still rather repaint than have mud flaps........

Re: Mudflaps or not??

I installed them on mine when it was new, they were the wrap around type that curved around the 90% part of the body.

I took them off, the wrap around part totally messed up my paint I've yet to get it fixed but all 4 cornors were trashed by the rubber edge scratching on the body

Yes, they did help, Camaro tires are wide and flick up everything, if I do it again or could recomend it, GET the plain black flat ones! and get wide ones too!

it's not the tires imo...it's the fact the bumper curves inward and allows the outter edge of the tire to fling **** up onto the bumper

Re: Mudflaps or not??

try having a 3rd gen w/ no ground effects... you wanna talk about a PITA!!!

i cant say that i've ever noticed a 4th gen w/ flaps... some of the 3rd gens had a factory option im pretty sure. I say go for it, it has to be beneficial in some way

That's why I got 315 Nitto DRs, so it'll spread that rubber protectant over more of the quarter panel/bumper

WTF? And then we wonder why we get the "redneck" stereotype by being a "CAMERO" driver.
