More questions about the Ultra-Z Hood

I got my SLP Ultra-Z hood for my birthday last week (go wife!!!) and have had it on for a week so far to "cure" it via engine heat. I take it to the bodyshop that I intend to go through and he starts pointing out all these waves in the fiberglass and says he's real leary about painting it. I basically want to know if anyone has had any serious problems with these hoods after painting. I love the hood but dont want to waste my money for something temporary. Thanks for any input. Later.

Wow... LOL... A friend of mine in Savannah had a problem when he ordered one for his Old Z (I think it was a 1999). He did the smae thing. He put it on for the 'cure' time or whatever and then took it to a very well respected body shop. The shop refused to paint it! It was too long over the lights, it was warped, and would not line up even the least bit. It fit worse than a cheap thin glass lift off hood does...LOL.... Anyway, Timmy called SLP. They SWORE there was nothing wrong with the hood and told him to send it back. If they found a problem they would refund his shipping for sending it back.... Of course they said it was good and he was stuck with the shipping. they shipped him another hood and it still did not fit, but it fit different than the first... he ended up selling the hood to another local guy that was not concerned with a perfect fitting hood.

Re: More questions about the Ultra-Z Hood

don't know why they can't just make steel aftermarket hoods. Maybe then they'd fit or something.

Good luck with that thing, only thing i could think to do would be to put braces along the underside. Some support might keep it from warping.
