Moonroof install?

There is a car I might buy and its perfect minus the fact that it doesnt have t-tops. Has anyone ever seen a 4th gen with a moonroof? How did it look (it might not look very good). And can it even be done? Thanks

I've heard of it, but never seen it. I'm not sure it can happen with the fake t-top bar on the inside of the roof on a coupe.
but at the same time, money can buy you anything.
I would get it done by a pro for sure though.
There is a t-top conversion that ALOT of people do to thier coupe, that actually looks stock.
you might want to look into that,, but IMO, its a little to much to do when you can just NOT buy a coupe

True Tone, but its a pretty good deal 96 silver trans am with 52k miles for I think 10.5k. CA pricing thats not bad. I'd be all over that but no T-Tops... I still need to ditch my 3.4 and get a 5.7 though.

the only thin I think will be the problem with the moon roof - it's ratteling which will happen for sure. since the T-Top bar is more or less is a stress bar, and even t-tops gives you noise in some occations the moonroof will probably be hell.

Usually around $400 for all the parts and most people do it themselves.

most places won't even talk to you about doing a ttop conversion becuase of the liability. but, if you did find a place to do it, you'd pay an arm and a leg in labor...

If there are not alot of cars in that area for a reasonable price, then why limit yourself to that area ? Just curious...

FYI: Blue book for a 96Z in "excellent" condition with 52,000 miles is $8,680 That's with T-Tops, CD, Leather Interior etc..

96 Trans-Am in same condition with same miles and options: $8,650

Two problems present themselves when I ask the same thing why limit myself to this area. *BTW* That car was all the way down in Pomona (Los Angeles area not really near me) but it has to be driveable back. So like OR, NV, AZ, and SoCal are about as far as I can go. And it would really be bad news to fly all the way somewhere just to have it not work out or along those lines. I cant exactly fly to tennesse and go pick up my car.

I've seen it done. On a dark green Z that passed me going the other way one day. IMO, it didn't look good at all. Looked HORRIBLE in fact. It was a big piece of glass. Just looked out of place and akward. IMO, TTops looks stellar and the labor would probably be much cheaper than a moonroof conversion, and you could do it yourself if you really wanted to.

imho blue book value means crap. it's all about market value and what people are willing to pay for it. around here fourthgens go for way over bluebook to get a nice one.
