Does anyone have an idea what the body shop charges to mold on a body kit? Also, what shops do this type of work, auto painting or repair shops?

 

I would assume it would be a body shop that would mold a kit on. I want to get my new GFX molded on so TTT because I want to get an idea of what price I should expect.

 

Before I molded my kit on (decided to do it myself), I received quotes anywhere between $1,500-$3,000. Our kits do NOT just mold on. They require extensive modifications before molding it smooth. IF you want to tackle part of the process yourself you can easily cut the cost in half.

The cheapest route is to go with a collision company. Keep in mind most bodyshops will NOT even consider it. Also, Cali is the cheapest place to get it done.

I highly recommend 2020 Autobody Tech if you want it done right:

I paid 600 to have mine molded on, pics are in the sig. The guy did say 1100 but then I said cut me a deal or else I'm leaving. He knocked mine down to 600. So with newway's price on the body kit and the guy doing it for 600, I paid a little over 1k for my kit plus molding on. Don't let people rip you off dude, offer him a fair price. Walk in with 700 or 800 and be like, mold my kit on and paint it? They will take it, or just walk away.

I agree about the lines created by the GFX. Molded on GFX look cheesy IMO(usually)

Unless the 2 are of the same substrate urethane-urethane... fiberglass-fiberglass.... sooner or later it will crack.

Unless you mold the kit on with bondo, hit a curb, (or a deer) they shouldn't crack.

I dont get the idea of molding if its still gonna be seamless. What I mean to say is, how is that molding if there are still the original seams caused by the gfx. pu12en12g, did you use bondo to mold them on? If not, what materials did you use?

Mine is fully molded (SEAMLESS) here are some before and after pics:
