Exclamation Making 4th Gen. Lighting Guide Website, need suggestions, etc.

I am currently working on a small website to highlight different parts of the lighting on the (mainly) ’93-’97 Camaro’s. The main reason I am doing so is because there is just about one post a day about such matters in the Appearance section.

What I want to know from you guys is what all would you like to see on the website? I plan in putting/have started putting/or have put the following on there:
•Info about the stock wiring harness • Some install pages or at least links to install pages on the Hella FF75 conversion, the Hella 90mm conversion (gotta talk to you about that Sam if you see this…) and the write up about putting aftermarket bulbs into the stock housings • A bulb application guide for all 4th Gen. Years • Information about which bulbs are better, etc…(being discussed in another current post of mine) • Links to retailers • and other general information (such as “Don’t get the AutoOptiks housings, etc.).

What I need from you guys is any information that you have that would be helpful for the website. Such as any guide’s you have written (along with your permission to post them, if possible), or any sites that you have found of great assistance for you and your Camaro’s lighting.

It will be a few months at least probably before I get the site up. I want it to be as nice as possible, and very informative. It will be for the benefit mainly of CamaroZ28.com members. I am hosting on the cz28.com server, so I have only 20mb of space to work with, so if you do have a guide, and have space to host the pictures, please do so and just let me use the pictures off of your server, etc.

Thanks for all and any help and info…

Talking

Dalton, here is the website where I purchased my Cuzo bulbs from...www.ProLightStar.com. Within one week I had the bulbs. I also ordered new foglight bulbs from SuperCarAuto.com on the same day (2 weeks ago?) and still have not received my order, nor have they responded to my e-mails.

Also, it's supposed to be above freezing here next weekend so maybe I'll have a chance to install my FF75s and afterward I'll have plenty of pics for ya!!

Thanks guys...I will check my e-mail in the morning Alex, that should definately be helpful. Any info you have on LED resources, etc. would be nice too (I think you was swapping out to all LED?)

Thanks Brian...I'll make note of that link and may also try to make a "feedback" type note beside different retailers. Just whatever I can do to be helpful. I wish you had had a chance to install the FF75's before me, especially since I was going to base my opinion largely on your thoughts, but I COULDN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE!!!!

Thanks guys, keep ideas and stuff flowing, I want this to be THE most useful lighting resource for us. Especially since there are so many posts about this kind of stuff.

Yes I still try to swap all the bulbs to LED's. The interior is completely done. I even started the rear lights but all the bulbs I got had to go to my wifes VW once she got the Altezzas. Oh well. I guess I'll just have to get some more. Anyways youre most welcome to email me for any questions and pictures.

Wraith,
I was actually going to contact you about that...I was hoping to link to your site. The more info there is, the less people will have to ask questions. I was aware of your site, and didn't want to step on your toes by putting mine up as well. I'm not trying to take your place or anything though, just get more info out there, and provide as much info as possible about every upgrade (i.e. lnks to threads about them, etc.)

But that would be great if you could get yours/the current ONLY lighting guide (that I know of) updated. The more the merrier...

Alex - got your e-mail, thanks.

I'm not sure if you call this a suggestion, but I think it would be really nice to put a guide on how to change the front lights, turn signals, and side markers more easier and quicker. According to my chilton book, I had to jack up the car, remove the air dam, yadda yadda. I couldn't believe it, all that to get to a damn fog light.

Then a fellow member here on the boards told me I could do it through the front, just had to re-align the light, I did it like that and BINGO! All is working perfect now. The information the chilton book was giving was about a 20-30 minute job, doing it from the front took about 5 minutes!

Oh, and if you guys need some help posting stuff up on the web, just ask and I'll be more than happy to help out. I have space with no damn ad banners or anything, a nice feature thanks to a friend You guys can link it to your primay web site

I have started a write-up on this, but.... Is anybody still interested in this upgrade? I have a description done with links to appropriate pics (not online yet), that people could use to get an idea of what is all involved so they should be able to make up their mind with that. I will always be available to provide some detailed instructions to anybody that needs them. However, writing a detailed instruction manual on how exactly to install them is gonna take a lot more work and I don't want to spend countless hours perfecting this if nobody is interested at this time.

Send me a short email if you're interested, that way this will not "steal" the thread! If there are a couple of people that are seriously considering this upgrade, I will continue working on it and work with 94BlackBowtie to put it online...

Thanks!

Sam

Or if you are gonna be too lazy to send Sam an e-mail, you can just post it here, that way he knows. A good guide takes many many hours to produce, and it would be disheartening to find noone is using it. So don't worry about threadjacking with that - it's all for the same cause.

jwar - For replacing the stock fog light bulbs, I will definately just link to Brent's site (I had permission for it in my guide, so he shouldn't have any probs with that...) That is the best write up you will find on that (Thanks Brent!) And shoebox has some pics and stuff that I am going to ask him to use regarding the turn signals, etc. But don't be surprised if you have to jack up the car and remove the air dam, yadda yadda...everything is just kinda in there, and you have to do a little bit of work for some of it..

I will see what it is looking like though and try to get some of that kind of thing on there as well.

Thanks all, keep ideas coming, along with any information you have.

Don't worry about stepping on my toes, you wouldn't be. It's good you are doing this, it will help. Especially since I haven't been able to keep up with mine like I have wanted. It will be good for those interested in this subject.

Here's a suggestion for you...include 3rd Gens in the lighting guide.

Wraith - Good deal, I just didn't wanna **** anyone off. Just wanting to help everyone interested - like you mentioned.

Tremo - There is basically no way that I can do this...reason being I don't have a 3rd Gen., and therefore have no idea what upgrade can/should be done on them. I would like to help the entire F-Body community, but I think the 4th Gen. '93-'97 in particular is the highest demanding one. Sorry man. You can always start one though...

3rd Gen upgrade is easy.

Matrix Motorsports crystal clear housings + high wattage bulbs.

Done.

4th gens is alot harder to upgrade.
