Hand bending? How thick is the metal, I take it you used aluminum.

 

its a thinner gauge galvanized sheet metal. stuff you would use for custom duct work. i don't plan on keeping them on all the time. just there for use at shows and cruise nights.

i used my tool boxes as a press to make the seams ( placed between bottom and top box) then used a hammer to pound out any parts that need to be straightened.

id like to get some thicker ones made eventually to keep on the car at all times.

Not bad- I like the creative thinking..

I put two pieces of 1/4" 'angle iron' in my vise to bend things longer than the 6" my vice is..works just as well...
