lt1 z28s and the black area under the headlights
#21
yes it looks ugly when it's body colored. It looks fine on the 3rd gen, but 4th gen just looks funny, thats why GM designers did the black treatment. Its kinda weird when you really sit down and look at it and it's black, like it's trying to make up for something. But yet, when it's body color, it doesn't look right.
Imagine if they designed it with flush headlights from the beginning, like the C6. Or if that corner was actually a parking lamp, whether the whole corner being orange or having 3 horizontal slots for the parking light. Or what if there was nothing on the corner at all??!! The last one would look funny head on, in fact it would look almost like the body colored fascia we're talking about.
It seems like the sealed beams were actually limiting the design of the front end. Like GM designers had to design the rakish, aerodynamic looking front end around/to incorporate old school sealed beams. Imagine if GM did not have the flexibility of the shape and angle of the "peanut" headlamp of the 98+ front end and had to use sealed beam. The 93-97 kinda has that effect. At least to me. But, nonetheless, the car still looks good. Thanks to the black recessed headlamp well area. Thats why it SHOULD remain black.
