i have a dremmel, and i get the buff and polish kit thing (its sold in a pair, one is for fine sanding (polishing it) and the other one is much rougher, and gets all the paint off...

 

but my method you dont have any paint at all I mean none just take some assembly grease and wipe a thin layer down the fins with your finger thats all it takes

 

Gotta get them smooth to polish anyway, why not?

 

I'll probably use masking strips on mine.

 

I had mine ceramic coated and I am pleased with the results.

 

The casting marks are going to have to be sanded smooth anyway. Might as well paint the whole thing, then polish.

If you were careful, the grease would work. But I don't think it would as clean a line between paint and polish(room for mistake).

 

where do you guys buy your powder coating from/ best paint for this , and how many years does it last till it starts coming off?

 

Mine are CHROME. Not too many people can say they have chrome intake fins. Yes, not polished but chromed (with vinyl. LOL!).

Thanks! It's a powder coated intake and the intake fins I have on my vinyl site... somebody wanted them, I designed them for him, they came out cool so I stuck em up on the page.

it is played out, but looks good. It is actually a powercoated cherry red LT1 manifold.

 

where do you buy the powder coat paint from?
