The casting marks are going to have to be sanded smooth anyway. Might as well paint the whole thing, then polish.
If you were careful, the grease would work. But I don't think it would as clean a line between paint and polish(room for mistake).

Mine are CHROME. Not too many people can say they have chrome intake fins.
Yes, not polished but chromed (with vinyl. LOL!).
