LT-1 People... Cassette Holder Mods

Probably the second stupidest piece of our interiors. (Right behind the cup holder behind the shifter)

Anyone done anything with it? Install gauges there? LCDs? iPod mount? Removed it all together?

I am in the process of outting a manual fan switch in there with a temp. gauge.
The switch will have two leds wired in to let me know at what speed the fan is runnig.left=green=low and right=blue=high. The middle position is when the computer is runnig the show.

Re: LT-1 People... Cassette Holder Mods

i just took that whole box thing out yesterday. fairly simple to do. had to remove the whole console tho(very easy on a 6 speed, not sure about an auto) you can tell something is missing but i plan in the future to either do nitrous gauges or a switch panel or something to fill the spot. my car rattles half as much now as it used to.lol. once i got the whole console out i took a mini grinder and ground off the plastice peice that were melted together. a chissel and hammer shoudl do it too.

I had a 5.6" LCD there in my old z28. I actually still have it sitting here in my closet. I had it hooked up to a DVD player which was located in my glove box.

Rk sport used to make a custom cassette pod for gauges or whatever you wanted to put in it. It was designed to cover that pod for the 93-96 camaro lt1. I happen to buy one from ebay a while back ago. I tired calling them and they told me they havent made those for years. Look around you might find one for sale - Mike

I put my fuel pressure guage in there all the way in the back at a angle. The cigarette lighter I removed and put my tranny temp guage there.

Yeah I remember when RK use to sell that. I wish I would've bought one years ago. I'll fab my own up in time though.

Someone about 3 years ago or so somehow managed to talk them into making another batch if they got an order of 30 of them, so I bought one. They came with a nifty cup holder addition at no cost.

One of my favorite things actually
