looking for a nice shade of gunmetal for the Z...

Got the body of the car hooked up the way I want it, now I need to jump on paint soon. Too bad I never got to do anything I wanted to the last 2 weeks I was on leave Being a daddy has it's responsabilities I guess so I dont feel that bad about it...

Anyway now that I'm back in the sand, I'm looking for a nice shade of gunmetal gray to paint the Z.

I was thinking Viper Steel grey or dark gunmetal, with the headlight openings, tailpanel , B-pillar and mirrors in black and black paint in the hood scoop opening (LT1 SS hood). Paint will be basecoat/clearcoat and all the weatherstripping, lock cylinders and such will be replaced, even the driver's door hinges. It'll be gunmetal basically from the hood and spoiler down with the exceptions I listed. The turnsignal lenses and sidemarkers will be tinted black and I will eventually put some black ZR1's on the car in place of my C5 thinkspokes. Tried to get some on leave but like I said, being a daddy comes first when the kid needs me Didnt even have a computer to use until now.

Anybody have some pics of gunmetal Z's I could look at to kind of help me make up my mind here?

Go out on a limb - look through about 1000 paint chips, find a color you like and go with it.

Hmmm... the color's dont look bad, the Viper Steel Gray looks best. But I still want something darker, like gunmetal gray I suppose. The bottom one looks too much like pewter to me...

Now THAT looks good. You might be on to something there.

Why not? Everything else on the car came from a C5 =p might as well add to the theme with paint too lol

I like the idea of sticking with a GM color in the Vette Spiral Gray. Add that with some 18" wheels, and you just may have one of the nicest on cz28.com

The wheels I have on my car are gunmetal from an aftermarket wheel company online... cant remember the name off hand, but if you were to match the paint with the wheels that would look really good i think. Otherwise the viper steel grey gets my vote!
