Question Lightening the factory seats.....?

I have the manual (non power) seats in my camaro and since i don't adjust them forwards or backwards i was thinking of how i could save weight by directly bolting them to the frame without the heavy slider assembly or at least lighten them a bit. anyone tried it?

I personally have not tried it. But it will work. You will have to do some tinkering with it, getting it set just right because afterwards you will not be able adjust it. Just a word to the wise, be careful and not careless with your weight reduction Ideas. I am not saying this is a bad Idea at all, I am saying that you can do things that are great at the moment but then down the road pose problems. You have to really weigh the pros and cons(no pun intended). Good luck.

[EDIT]

The tracks are pretty heavy, but like Chevy85 said I'd be careful with this one. One day you MITE need someone to drive your car, and that could pose a problem.

If you are able to do it, please post some pictures. I'd like to see how it is done.

Cmon guys, dont be too hard on him. If you find 50 ways to drop a lb off the car you've made a difference. If you do it without spending money then you gained 5 free horsepower

OK.... knock it off. If you don't agree with his approach, don't respond. There is no need for the behaviour displayed above. If it continues, more posts will be deleted and infractions will be given. There is no need to ridicule anyone just because you don't agree with their approach.

Most of you should know better. Very disappointing.
