Leather Seat Modifications...

Ok, I own a boat restoration business... and we do a lot of upholstery work. A good friend of mine came to me (he has an 01 Arrest me red WS6 with BLACK leather seats) and asked me if we could do something. Were going to take red leather inserts (almost like the Camaro cloth seats... red/black) that are identical to the black ones in there (pattern, stitching, ect) and replace the black ones... in the center sections... i.e... the center of the back rests, the center of the bottom cushions (like the 30th, and 35th seats for the camaro.)

Would any of you be interested in something similar? (Could pretty much do any color...) What are you thoughts on this "modification"???

I'm intrested also. Be careful about talking about services though, people are very quick to raise the "Not a sponsor" flags.

This wasnt intended as a services thing... Im not trying to promote it. I would like to know your opinions on what you think the final outcome would look like... if you would like it. Its just an idea... and the more people we have with their thoughts or suggestions, the better this could be.

Were still contemplating the idea... and that is more what I was asking for... your thoughts on how it would look. AFTER this first set is done... if there are others interested... we could go from there. AGAIN, LOOKING FOR THOUGHTS ON THE MODIFICATION. Dont want to get into trouble... lol.

Re: Leather Seat Modifications...

I havent. I actually tore down the bottom cushion today. Got the 2 pieces apart that need replaced. I have the foam that gets stitched to the bottom of the panels... but I still need to go down to Savannah (45min drive) and see what they have for fabric to match it up with.

Re: Leather Seat Modifications...

Right now I have the 30th Anniversary seats apart. Not for any changes... but to restore them... hopefully for M5camaro. Im going to try to keep the costs down for him. I bought them 2 years ago for myself... but I have too many things around and some thing just have to go. I was going to sell them for $200 plus shipping... but after some thought... I thought it was ****ed up to sell them like they sat since I had the knowledge and facility to fix them, because I feared they would eventually end up in the trash.

We are going to go pick up materials for the TA seats sometime next week. It will be a slow process... as it is his daily driver... so I have to do it one seat at a time... but pics of one seat at a time arent so bad... lol.

While I hate to be the jerk I'm afraid you can't ask for interested people without being a supporting vendor The problem is (and it has happened many times in the past) that people come in asking, "Would any of you be interested in xxxxx?" You get 20 people to reply "YES" and now you have 20 customers to sell your product to right off the bat. So, for this reason, we don't even allow people to see if there is an interest.

And, just to be clear, it is not that the site/admins are pissed because they are not making money off you and you are using the site to make money. It is more aligned to the fact that it upsets the people who do pay to have the privelage to promote their product here. It got so bad a few years ago that a number of the supporting advertisers were not going to continue their support because they were thinking "Why should be continue to pay when everyone else can do basically the same thing for free???" They had a good point so the mods had to crack down on it or risk losing supporting vendors which could lead to the site going down... and nobody wants that. So, as much as I hate to stifle creativity and seeing new and cool products get started and promoted, there is good reason that the mods often times will raise the "not a sponsor" flag.

So, after a brief explanation, I hope you understand why you can't ask "who would be interested in" type questions without first talking the admins to see if something can be worked out. You can get in touch with Chris and Jason. chris@camaroz28.com and jason@camaroz28.com

Thanks!

Yeah old Lloyd Elliot had years of free advertising on this site.
