Lamborghini door questions

Does anyone have lambo doors on their cars? If so, have you guys ever had/heard problems with them?

Next, I came across this site, the kit cost 645.00
http://www.2loww.com/CAMAROlambodoors888.html
This is about half of what I usually see the kits costing, does this site look bogus?

Last question, on ebay, they advertise "universal" kits, for much cheaper than car specific kits. Are these universal kits any good?
Post pics if you got lambos on your car too por favor

Re: Lamborghini door questions

At that price if you like it then I would say you should buy it. Take this like a grain of salt but there an Accord here that has Lambo doors and I was told he spent about 9k on it so for $700 it might be a steal, granted theyre 2 different cars. But i would think that weight would be an issue cuz my ankle would tell you that our doors are pretty heavy and close really quick on an incline . IMO though Lambo doors on Fbodies are just like euro lights that belong on non domestic vehicles.

ive had some of the same concerns youve mentioned. the accord you mentioned, is that a friend's car?
ive thought about the whole lambos on domestic things, but ive seen it done a number of times on corvettes in particular and at least in my opinion thought it looks pretty sweet.
the 645.00 price tag, that stuck out because most of the sites/ebay that advertise run about double for the kit, so thats why i was wondering if you guys had any expertise to suggest whether or not i could trust that site?

Re: Lamborghini door questions

The accord was at a car show and was also a local car here. If you want to buy and install this door kit i would say go for it cuz its in the eye of the beholder. who cares what other people think of it, not many people have done that kit so it makes your car that much more unique. As far as anything else goes on it I cant direct you anywhere cuz i know very very little about this mod.

Re: Lamborghini door questions

i got a buddy that got lambo doors on a 300. he hates them, very hard to get in and out of. And as it stands, camaros already are not that easy to get in as it is. His are the cheap ones, and the only let the doors go up and down. Ive heard some lambo kits alow the doors to open like normal as well. Im thinking thats the diffrence in the 700 bucks to 9000.

Re: Lamborghini door questions

$9000 is just plain crazy but so is $645. The average cost Ive seen is $1000 with $1500 being the price for the best one I'd seen which allowed you to still open your doors normally.

Re: Lamborghini door questions

Theres alot of different kits, as mentioned earlier some allow the person entering the car to open the door normally as well. I know there are 2 camaros and a trans am that were done around my county by this custom shop. The first problem that they had with the first camaro they did was they used a car lambo kit...since our doors are so heavy, the truck kits had to be used and it normally required more work. The second thing the one owner did was have that piece of the fender where it meets the mirror reworked so the doors could rise completely up and not flare out like the butterfly style kits. The next problem that they had was the kits that were on eBay and other websites all came with hardware bolts that were less than satisfactory and one ended up snapping off when the door was lowered. I can speak very highly of the shop that installed these, and i highly doubt that it was their fault. You really just need to find a very reputable shop to install the kits unless you have some pretty good technical knowledge and feel comfortable about tackling this kind of job. Most of the jobs that I have seen come out of there were quoted no less then $2500 (kit & labor included) depending on how much work was done. I think the camaros ran like $3200. good luck with this =)
