i am looking at buying 4 kumho ecsta 712s 245/50zr/16 and having them mounted and balanaced and free flat repair and balances for $450 from discount tire, Co. which is www.tires.com

i could get them to my house from tirerack for 370 and then get them on for $10 a tire so i would be around 420 after taxes but then i have to worry about paying for rotation and a flat and stuff so i figure the 450 is worth it from the tires.com

also..i hear they are good in the rain which is a plus, my goodyear eagle f1 gs tires were horrible in the rain and only lasted me 25,000 so i dont plan on going back to them...

plus i should have a beater by winter that i can drive around....

yep, definatley a good deal considering the free lifetime flats, rotations, balancing ect. Flat repairs(at my store) alone cost 12 bucks

yea i paid like 19.99 awhile back to get one repaired and i figured rotation isnt cheap so therefore it would be the way to go...they seem like good tires...my buddy had them on his 95 and he had headers, exhaust, intake, ignition and drove like a Jack*ss and his faired out pretty good....i mean whatelse is there to do when you are 17 and have v8 muscle....you gotta mess around somewhat...haha i know this...ill never be able to move down from this power...unless of course i cant afford it anymore

The side walls look good but the tread just looks like those tires that ricers have on there 20 spoke wheels. Even though they are pretty cheap you can get a much better tire for the money. You can get copper cobras with a 50,000 mile gauretee, a tread wear of 380 and a much better tread design for not much more money. plus those kumos are nearly solid rubber so they are heavier and they don't dig into the pavement to give you good traction, they just use soft rubber.

hhhmmm...I thought the softer the tire, better traction???? From what I've heard, soft tires, more traction less tire life...hard tires, less traction, more tire life

Yeah, your right, but you see that's where the science comes to play, the objective is t design a tread that with use a stiffer rubber that lasts to provide good traction, and the kumhos don't have that technology, they just use a soft rubber and a simple solid tread to achive a balence between wear and grip, i'm saying that better tires will give superority in both fields.

here's a good tire of whati'm talking about

just got my 245/50zr/16's put on today for $450 which includes lifetime flat fix and rotation....kumho ecsta supra 712

they seem to be doing much better than my older tires but then again i got every damn penny out of them haha....had the warning bands poppin up.... i figure since they were the eagle f1 gs tires that i should get every penny out of them....damn expensive...only lasted like 25K...they actually feel a little heavier than my old tires but maybe that is because my old tires have been shot for awhile ...ha hopefully my braking improves when getting off the highway...
