Interior Paint

i have been thinking about adding just a little color to my interior by way of painting some of the trim pieces... now as in my other post regarding painting my brake calipers i realize i cannot use just regular household paints!

what paint do i use to paint selected interior pieces without giving the particular pieces a dull finish!? i would like to keep the interior looking as good as it is now, but i would just like to add some color, i the painted pieces to look and shine as they did BEFORE the paint but now i just want them a different color... i almost want to dye it rather then paint it!(at least i want that look!)

any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!

get said pieces, wash with dish soap
sand them down
wash again, dry good
spray a few coats of primer, let dry
then spray them with spray paint(as many coats as you want)
when they dry, spray with some coats of clear, that will give it a shine

i did this in my celica, looks sharp. i used automotive touch up, that comes in a spray can. the reason i did this is because it will be more resistant to fading in the sun....

o also, id take some fine grade sand paper and go over the pieces to rough em up a bit, the paint will adhere better if u do it that way.

Wash with soap and water
Get some 3m paint prep(it removes wax and oiletc.) and clean thoroughly
Dry off
Spray 2-3 coats with a flexing agent/ primer (you can get at autozone etc)

If you want wrinkles to show through
Spray with plasticoat vinyl paint or VHT spray dye
Looks good as is but you can top off with clear if you want the glossy finish all the time

If you want a slick finish spray with primer and sand till smooth
repeat steps till it is slick
apply paint You can use regular spay paint/touch up paint if you like but I like the vinyl paint or VHT dye because it flexes more Top off with clear if desired
