When you guys had repairs to your cars did the insurance company send the check to you, or to the shop? I have state farm, anyone know how they handle it? Thanks, John

 

The dealer ship that repaint my car gave the insurance company (state farm) a quote and they went from there
but I'm sure you could get a shop to let you do what you want with the check as long as they did the work it's the same money either way

 

The reason I ask is because I would like to get the check and just have a guy that used to work at the repair shop do it on the side. If I go through the shop, I will only get the hood painted. However, if I can get the check to come to me, I can pay the guy the same amount to paint the hood, two fenders, and bumber cover.

 

i got a check written in my name once and the other time it was made out to the body shop....dpends on the insurance claims place you go to i guess
