Smile INSTALLATION-HOOD PIN KIT for 96SS

Thanks for your appropriate concerns, I would not be that
callous to do what you think I would do...No. This is for a
Fibreglass SS Aftermarket hood. Thanks very much... Please
advise where/how to install kit...Theo

Does your hood use the OEM latch in the front?

Two things theory and practice.
In theory there should be at minimum, four pins and they should be in the best location to support the largest area. That's usually 1/3 in from all four sides.
In practice this usually puts the pins in locations where there is no supporting "frame" for mounting. And it's not the most esthetic (best looking) locations. So most people compromise and place them as near to these (1/3) location as possible. A common mounting location is the radiator support frame. It's back far enough from the front edge to give good hold down and still looks pretty good.
Out side of these general guide lines there's lots of different ideas. On my '84 I fabricated mounts that went from the front fascia to the rad. support so I could get the pins in a more ideal location. Some people use a simple rear hinge and only install front pins. Other have found that pins alone aren't enough and install Dzus fasteners around the edges of the hood. All depends on the "wieght" of the hood and your speed.

it latches exactly the same as every other hood, but it has "pins". They aren't actually pins, but locks to lock the hood down......so no one can steal my engine?

I hate them...

My question was a set up dependent upon his reply.
