I'd like to lower my car...the correct way.

I have a '97 WS6 and I'd like to lower it. I've done research and heard people talk about how important it is to replace your stock shocks with better shocks, but I've also read about different components you use to keep the handling good.

Can someone please explain to me the correct way to lower a car, the components needed, and what purpose those components serve?

One thing is that I DEFINATELY do not want to decrease my car's handling.

Thanks so much!

from my understanding, these are the parts you will want to get....

springs-obviously...

relocation brackets- to readjust the lower control arm angle to prevent wheel hop and traction loss

panhard rod- to re-center the rear end after lowering

and maybe some new shocks, but that isnt a must

then go for a set of sfc and a strut tower brace and you should be set as far as handling goes

i think that's all that's nessesary, but im sure someone else will chime in if i forgot something

Make sure you get an adjustable Panhard rod, that helps
re-center more than a regular PHR will. Shocks are gonna keep your new springs from settling too low, I really suggest that you get new shocks. Basic things for lowering are gonna be Shocks, Springs, and adj. PHR.

But if you are going to go all out I suggest getting everything from the lgmotorsports site

www.lgmotorsports.com

PS: you dont have to do this all at once take your time find used parts locally to save money That's what I do

So, when I lower my car, I should definately have the following...
-springs (obviously)
-aftermarket shocks
-adj. panhard bar
-lower control arm relocation brackets

Stuff that can be done as time and money permits:
-swaybar
-torque arm
-????

Does this sound about right? Are there certain things you shoud replace at the same time so that you aren't taking things back apart?

I want to lower my car and do it correctly and safely, but I also don't care to spend $2000 doing so all at once!

Oh yeah, would you all go for G2 springs or the Prokit?

I have the pro kit but only things I recommend you HAVE to have would be springs and shocks the rest you can pick up gradually

You car will be safe and all but it doesn't mean you are gonna wanna leave it like that
